Drama Prime Time Report – December 5th~8th
Monday began with various specials like ‘Nep League‘ (Fuji TV), ‘Otameshika! & Qsama!!‘ (TV Asahi), and ‘Shabekuri 007‘ (NTV). The latter especially was very popular amongst viewers, causing Fuji TV’s Monday drama, ‘Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu‘ to drop down by 0.8% again. It’s the 3rd time this season it dropped down to 14.8%, which is still the drama’s worst rating so far. Compared to previous dramas in the same time slot, however, that’s a very comfortable low tide to swim in.
'Watashi ga Renai Dekinai Riyuu' (3x)
Only late-night drama ‘Shinya Shokudo 2‘ (TBS) lost more than 0.5% (-0.7% -> now 1.4%), while ‘Watashi no Host-chan‘ (TV Asahi) lost only 0.3% (now 1.9%).
'Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de' / 'HUNTER' / 'Bitter Sugar'
Of course, this meant that other networks had to give away some of their viewers. TV Asahi was the biggest loser that evening with their Wednesday crime drama, ‘Aibou season10‘. It has yet to regain the strength to withstand shows like the music festival, and so it lost 5.2% compared to last week. 13.1% now marks the drama’s new season-low.
NTV’s ‘Kaseifu no Mita‘ also had to compete against Fuji TV and their music festival, but the target audience for this drama probably didn’t care for at least half of the artists that performed on Fuji TV. Moreover, they wouldn’t have dared to just record ‘Kaseifu no Mita’, because then they wouldn’t be able to talk about it with everyone else the next day. In the end, the music festival left only a scratch (2.0%), resulting in a rating of 27.6% for the drama.
Next week, the drama is expected to break the big 30%, which hasn’t been achieved by a drama since 2007. Just like this week, ‘Kaseifu no Mita’ is going to be 15 minutes longer than usual; however, it will begin at 10:35 p.m. due to the FIFA Club World Cup 2011 Japan Semi Final. Hopefully the Japanese club, Kashiwa Reysol, will reach the semi-final and face FC Santos, which could force even more people to stay in front of the TV that day.
'Aibou season10' / 'Kaseifu no Mita' (2x)
As for ‘Kasouken no Onna 11‘ (TV Asahi), this meant another calm Thursday without any nosedives or joyful leaps. The drama gained 0.4% (now 13.3%). The next drama on TV Asahi, ‘DOCTORS‘, improved by 0.7% and said hello to the 15% for the second time this season.
Also experiencing a rather joyful Thursday was the drama ‘Runaway‘ on TBS, which jumped above the 10% (+0.9% -> now 10.3%). Meanwhile, ‘Mitsu no Aji‘ (Fuji TV) lost 1.2% and dropped below the 10% again. Looking at the average ratings of both dramas, the former was able to overtake the latter in this ranking as well. You can find the average ratings at the bottom of this article.
‘Himitsu Chouhouin Erika‘ (NTV) experienced an awful Thursday. How can you reach a new season-low just one week after a new season-high? In numbers, this meant a drop of 3.9%, stopping at a rating of 2.6%.
'DOCTORS' / 'Mitsu no Aji' / 'Himitsu no Chouhouin Erika'

NHK, TBS and TV Tokyo usually don’t disclose the ratings for their shows on a regular basis, therefore they won’t be included in the list below. Certain dramas or drama specials that aired on those channels and might lack ratings are still included with a ??.?% rating. This doesn’t mean that the ratings were too low to recorded.
Improvements and declines will be illustrated with the use of several icons. The colors and the numbers indicate how much the ratings have changed.
An orange color means almost no change, while a red color means the ratings dropped, and a green color means the ratings improved.
